Leo doesn’t approve of this so I couldn’t put it in a Tao of Leo but here is my own belief on estimation:

Estimation is a waste of time. The problem with estimation is that it masquerades as data when, by definition, it is guaranteed to be wrong.

You should have 3 innovations per release. That way if one fails you still have 2.

The singleton pattern combines all the perf benefits of a global variable with all of the code maintenance benefits of a global variable.

In all seriousness, duplicating code isn’t bad. What is bad is duplicating intent.
